Interior designer Filip Tack launches ‘Più objects’: not a collection, but a list of essential home furniture pieces

Just as Filip Tack has been searching for the essence of every interior for some 20 years, the Belgian interior designer is now also striving for purity in every form with his Più objects series. From side tables that double as serving dishes to paravents that hint at an open wardrobe, the objects are often multifunctional, while always being durable, unique, handmade and numbered. Tack calls it ‘slow furniture’. Without belonging to any particular collection, these pieces stand out on their own. Once brought together, they form a list of home furniture essentials.

The desire to not only work on full-scale projects, but instead create individual objects, had long lain dormant at the back of Filip Tack's mind. For this ‘Più objects’ series, The Belgian interior designer has drawn inspiration from the work of photographer Peter Menzel. For example, in his work ‘Material World’, we see a portrait of families around the world with their most cherished, important possessions. This formed a starting point for Tack to use his objects to create an ensemble of durable furniture pieces that are the essence of any home furniture on a universal scale, that can be passed on from generation to generation.

Individual objects with no collection
Every Più object has been conceived based on its function, stripped down to its purest essence in terms of form, made entirely using natural materials. That's something all of these unique pieces have in common. Filip Tack designs each object with a specific space and atmosphere in mind, allowing them to stand out perfectly on their own.

Take the ‘chll’, a one-seater that can be adjusted in terms of seat inclination by removing an elongated removable element from the side of the chair and then screwing it into a recess in the back of the design. Then we have ‘hdsk’, a paravent on which you can hang clothes without damaging them, thanks to the addition of a beautifully rounded brass hook. This also makes the piece look a bit like a wardrobe. The ‘srvm’ features a serving tray, which can be either connected via magnets, or simply enjoyed apart as two separate pieces.

Fine details include subtly concealed hinge points or the elegant, bevelled edges of a tray or bowl to provide additional grip. For Filip Tack, this illustrates the inextricable link between functionality and aesthetics.

Slow furniture made in Belgium
The ‘Più objects’ are made to measure and can be ordered directly from Filip Tack. All objects are made by hand and numbered in a Belgian workshop. They are available in either solid, natural or black stained oak.
